This modular course is a series of video-based lessons providing instruction on how to graph, explore and transform parent functions.

Students will learn to identify the domain and range of various real-world step functions. They will graphically explore numerical data points and observe step functions.

Students explore the inverse variation function with a geometric representation (a rectangle with fixed area), a table of values, an algebraic expression, and a graph.

Students will explore the definition of a function through use of a graph, a set of ordered pairs, and an input-output diagram.

Students investigate ordered pairs by graphically exploring the coordinates of a point on a Cartesian plane and identifying characteristics of a point corresponding to the coordinate.

This activity can be used to introduce students to the Cartesian plane. They should have some familiarity with how points are located in the plane using two coordinates, but the emphasis in this activity is solidifying students' understanding of just how that is done. As configured, the activity is restricted to the first quadrant (positive x- and y-coordinates).
